Just 4 days into my dial-in, and it’s one of my favorite days: Bikram Beginners followed by the Advanced series. I get to my version of “cardio”, which is the beginner’s class, followed by some serious stretching and strengthening advanced postures, (over 100 different asanas done in about 100 minutes!). This is a super low carb day – under 30 grams – and I have 3 of these kinds of day per week. They’re not easy because I really don’t get to play around at all with my evening meals, which consist of proteins and fats with some kind of condiment depending on how I’m feeling. For those precious 30 grams, I consume some yogurt (5 g Carbs) and a few strawberries (5 g Carbs), and then after the advanced class, I have some vegetables and a piece of fruit, (another 20 grams all-in-all). My orange right after class never tasted so good!
To get the results I want, curbing my diet for 4 weeks doesn’t seem like much of an ordeal, and now that I’m over the initial hurdle, (the first 2 days were pretty daunting, breaking with off-season mentality) I’m in the Zone! I have a great plan ahead of me, a solid nutritional outline, and tons of great recipes to try out…What I’m especially looking forward to is seeing my yoga practice improve. Cutting out the carbs, and getting more lean always, always makes yoga class so much more enjoyable. I am way less stiff in the mornings, and my joint mobility improves drastically. For the last 3 weeks I haven’t even been able to do guillotene, but just last night I was able to grab my hands, and bound lotus was on again!
Hope everyone else is looking forward to a great holiday season…
Paz y Luz,
Michelle
