I landed late last night after a particularly gruesome 14.5 hour flight from Newark to Mumbai. The company picks up the flight, which means I’m booking the lowest fare, so it’s economy all the way. Even for a wee yogi like myself, the complete lack of room in the Continental Boeing was unbelievable. I was plugged in tighter than a sardine in a can, and by the time I was spit out in dark, musty Mumbai, every joint in my body was complaining….Phew! I need to do some yoga!
Jet-lagged, I didn’t manage to fall to sleep until almost 5 in the morning, (that’s even after taking 2 sleeping pills), so when I woke up at the crack of noon today, I headed straight off to the gym to see everybody and slam out a great session following my new protocol for this month. It was great to do some heavy dead-lifts again, and dips and lateral raises…I was a little slower than usual, (had to say “hi” to everyone), so I didn’t get out til 3, and my appetite still hadn’t returned, so I grabbed produce and some eggs and chicken from Star Bazaar, and headed home to do some food prep. I’m still in a daze, my soul still feels like it’s back in Montreal, but my body is sluggishly here. I’m doing a few emails and then heading straight back to the gym to take a back-2-back Bikram double, sweat out the last of the plane ride, and hopefully be able to crash on time tonight…That’s one think Bikram yoga is especially great for: edema from traveling and jet-lag!
