End of Week 1

June 19, 2011 by Michelle

Celebrated the end of Week 1 with dinner at Cafe Indigo right here in Lokhandwala, and a night out at the Red Lounge to catch the 11:30 pm showing of the latest X-Men installment, First Class. Dang I sure love those reclining chairs…I planned for this panina by taking out carbs my last meal of the day as well as the first two meals of today, and then I only had half the panini at dinner, and the other half at the movie. Trust me, it was one enormous panini! What I like about cycling carbs is that you actually get to enjoy a decent pasta or sandwhich in the middle of a dial-in, and it actually spurs your metabolism and prevents depletion. I woke up this morning vascular and my muscles were full and round. I absolutely love this season’s conditioning protocol and will never go back to small 1/4 cup servings of starch or 1/2 cup servings of vegetables. Seems like the dark ages to me now. It all depends on how your body responds to carbs, how your training is set up to handle a carb rotation, and what your body composition is like going into a dial-in, but it’s something you might want to check out next year in the off-season.

I don’t believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.

It’s been a fantastic ride so far. The July 23rd IDFA show will mark my first year anniversary doing physique competition, and I have loved every minute of it. Training for shows has brought my fitness to another level, it’s brought a lot of fun and excitement to my workouts and to my life, and I feel like I’ve changed for the better. The discipline and hard-work of this kind of preparation changes develops your character just as much as it changes your body. As week 2 of my dial-in begins, and I’m glad to have so made so many connections with other athletes also preparing for the summer shows. It’s great to be able to check in with each other, root for each other, and give a shout out when it’s needed. Let’s all bring the best physiques and attitudes we can to the stage this year. Have a super fun, super hard-working day everybody. Chase your dreams!!!

Thanks! I am having a blast preparing for this show, and I really feel like I’m in the best possible hands with my trainer, Jean-Jacques. When I look at how much my physique has changed since my first show, I’m amazed!
Best wishes to you too!! xo
