I always go for a high protein diet when I’m dialing in, but here in Andheri the choices are pretty limited. I’ve been eating way to much chicken, eggs, and a little bit of frozen fish and prawn, and now 12 days into it, I suddenly had an immense craving for red meat. I grabbed a rick-shaw to Juhu to try and track down a ghost beef distributor in the muslim area , but to no avail. The only other option I knew of was to take a 300 rupee taxi ride into South Mumbai, or Town as the locals call it, and that didn’t seem palatable on a hot and polluted Thursday afternoon, so I ended up heading over to Indigo Cafe, one of our favorite local restaurants, and ordered a steak-to-go. It was actually incredibly tender and flavorful, a true filet mignon, about 8 oz in size. I had half and saved the other half for later. It came with a wonderful demi-glaze and some fresh vegetables, just perfect on my super-low carb day. (On Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 of us get together and do the Bikram Advanced Series). I count it as a big cardio day, as I end up doing almost 4 hours of solid, hot yoga…I felt immediately great after the first bite. Whatever micronutrients are in that steak, it was exactly what my body was craving…I’ve now put out the word to my friends in the local restaurant industry to help me purchase some steaks for the house, and one gracious friend who is supporting me 100%, has already promised to have some lamb chops cooked at his restaurant, delivered to my house, and his purveyor can also bring me top grade ground beef and whatever cuts of organic beef I want…This is the same guy who had piles of delicious food delivered to Deepak and I out in Pune when I was there last month…
I Love the Indian People….!
