I’m now on a 3 day split, and today was the first day training my shoulders and arms with the new program. I LOVE IT! I’m doing a lot of drop sets, lifting as heavy as I can for 6 repetitions, and it was the perfect routine with my body now into fat-burning mode. Today was a “re-feed” day, which means I have been trying to consumer 90 grams of carbs. So far I’ve had some strawberries, yogurt, papaya, dragonfruit and vegetables. Nothing too crazy, but it was what my body was craving. I dropped down substantially on the protein and fat, and it was great to dig in to a big bowl of vegetable curry today at the pool. My stomach is still killing me, so I broke down and went onto anti-biotics. India has really taken it’s toll on my immune system I’m afraid, and I’ll probably need a good year just to get my gastro-intestinal tract back in order. It was hard to push through yoga and my training session today, with my stomach in knots, but somehow the pain of the yoga and the weights obliterated the pain of my belly. As Bikram likes to say, “the pain kills the pain”, lol.
What did I do to train my arms? Standard DB Presses, biceps curls, triceps extensions, lateral raises, incline lateral raises, front raises, and some burnouts for my forearms. All-in-all, it is amazing to see how quickly my body is responding to the sudden change in diet and training. Though I was worried the first few days of the dial-in, now I’m feeling great, and in 3 weeks I’ll be home training with my coach at Active Performance in Montreal!
