I am putting together my latest training protocol with the help of my coach Jean-Jacques Barrett, and I am continuing to hit the hamstrings pretty hard. I’ve seen some great improvements on my posterior chain so far this winter, and I hope to continue forging ahead. We are using a plan quite similar to what Poloquin has described in this article: Charles Poloquin on Hamstrings
The main difference is that I have broken down the exercises into super-sets, but otherwise the rep range is the same…The hamstrings are comprised mostly of fast-twitch muscle fibers which respond better to low-rep, high weight training, so go heavy or go home! For those of you that do yoga, make sure you incorporate some dead-lifting into your training as well, to keep the hamstring tendons strong at their attatchements to the hips. xo
